Add each course with its letter grade and credit hours. Your semester GPA updates live — then add your previous GPA to see your new cumulative.
| Course | Grade | Credits |

Each letter grade carries points on the 4.0 scale. Multiply a course's points by its credit hours to get quality points, add them all up, and divide by total credits: GPA = Σ (points × credits) ÷ Σ credits. Credits are the weighting — a 4-credit A lifts your GPA more than a 1-credit A.
A 4.0 · A− 3.7 · B+ 3.3 · B 3.0 · B− 2.7 · C+ 2.3 · C 2.0 · C− 1.7 · D+ 1.3 · D 1.0 · D− 0.7 · F 0.0
Schools differ at the edges: some give A+ 4.3, and high schools often add +1.0 for AP/IB and +0.5 for Honors (a 5.0 ceiling) — that's weighted GPA. This calculator uses the standard unweighted college scale; check your school's table for the final word.
3.0 is the common minimum for good standing and many scholarships; 3.5+ is generally considered strong for graduate school applications.
Do pass/fail courses count?Usually not — leave them out of the calculator.
How is cumulative GPA different from semester GPA?Same formula. Cumulative simply runs it across every course you've taken — which is what the "previous GPA" fields above do for you.
